Liverleaf , 2018

I found this one late one night and thought I would give it a watch. Directed by Eisuke Naito. Lets start with the good. The only thing going for this is that it’s very gory enough to please the gorehond in me! With that said, the rest was very disappointing! 😞

You have one detentionall characters that we can’t get behind however hard we try, no chemistry between the characters, extreme Bullying which I’m not a fan of and way to much more unsatisfying things going in its favor. I’m surprised with how many people liked it!

I get the revenge aspect of the movie I do, don’t get me wrong I’m all for great gory soaked revenge fueled films like 1978’s I Spit On Your Grave or 1972’s Last House On The Left! Which by the way are great! 👍 this one however got lost along the way. Is it worth a try that depends on the viewer’s interpretation of what they think is worthy.

In movies like this you need more than just great gore, you need great storytelling, good direction, good establisheding shots, you need to establish a reason for the revenge and why it’s needed (and not just to fit the film) lovable characters that we can get behind, and to feel a connection between the characters!

I was being generous here by giving it a watch to the very end and not shutting it off midway through like I so badly wanted to do. It gets two and a half stars out of ten.
